If I had the chance to go back to the future, I would have met you sooner. I haven't known you for very long but when I met you for the first time, it was Love at 1st sight. You are the poster image of what a Mom, Grandma, Friend is. I don't think I have ever met someone who is so kind and gentle and loving as you. You blessed me with a very very dear friend Darlene. I thank you for that. Please rest in peace knowing you left an impresson on my heart that I will never forget. Thank you Momma Shirley.

I met Shirley Lewis through her daughter, my dear friend, Darlene, when we were in high school. I went to their house many times over the years. Mrs. Lewis was always so sweet. One of my fondest memories of her was that she couldn’t pronounce the word “mushroom” properly. She would say “mushwoom”. So many times when I was visiting, Darlene would ask her mom to say “mushroom”. She would happily oblige and say, “mushwoom”. Then we would all laugh... including her mom. Now I wonder whether or not she really had a problem pronouncing that word, or if she only did it to entertain us. Either way, it’s a memory that will stay with me always. Thank you Mrs. Lewis for all the laughs
My deepest, heartfelt sympathy to the family. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Mary

Rest In Peace my beautiful Grandma. It doesn’t seem real that you are gone from this earth. I know that you’re in Heaven, wherever that may be, and that your soul is with Grandpa. I’ll always remember your laugh, your smile, your kindness and the gesture of never, ever forgetting (or being late) with a birthday card. I love how silly you and grandpa were together. You were the matriarch of our family and I will miss you tremendously. We were suppose to see you earlier this month and I’m sorry that we didn’t get to say goodbye, I’m sorry that you never got to meet my daughter Izzy. I know that you would have loved her and would have been so proud of the extended family that you and grandpa’s love created. I am proud to be your granddaughter. I wish I could be there for you right now, to honor your memory but I know that love is stronger then the physical body, I know you will be looking down watching over us now. We will always carry you and Grandpa with us throughout our lives. We love you. Thank you for being our Grandma. Love, Jamie, Neil and Izellah

Oh Grams ...she had an abundant love for her family and a fun spirited nature in joining in the grandkids minute to win it games or bowling on the wii. She loved to laugh. She had a love to knit and crochet gifts for loved ones, for decorating her house for the holidays and collecting pretty crystal and family pictures that hung adoringly on her living room wall, which was always fun to see when visiting her. I realized a few years back that She passed those traits on to me as I am crafty, love crystal, and photos. When she came out to visit me she’d sit and loving looked at my scrapbooks (and even read the journaling) where I captured our family moments. She came out for every bday and party I hosted. We will miss her smiling face and fun spirit and her loving heart. Love you lots grams, Tammie and family.

To the Lewis family
I first met and learned about the strong family ties of the Lewis family through their daughter-in-law Kathy (Don) where I worked with Kathy for many years at Fays Drugs Executive Offices. About the same time I met Darlene through a mutual friend when she worked at Nationwide Insurance. Fast forward a “few years” and I reconnected with Darlene at our friend Mary’s wedding. We spent many fun times together with Darlene who hosted her last few JUGS gathering at her parents home where everyone was welcome. Darlene has always put her family first and interjected her silly sense of humor in difficult moments to make the family smile.
Shirley and John fostered a loving home for their family and were strong in supporting their community. Love, support and humor during family times will continue to grow and live through the beautiful family they made together. Sending my love and sympathy to the Lewis family. I’m so sorry these times would not allow services to pay my respects and hug you all. Lewis Strong!
