Andrij Guzelak Obituary

Andrij Guzelak, Jr., passed away February 5, 2020 quietly at home after a long illness. Andy was a graduate of Fowler High School, served in the United States Air Force Reserves and retired from the City of Syracuse Department of Water. He was an active member and past Vice President of the Ukrainian National Home. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Andy is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Culeton); two daughters, Hilary Ratliff (Art Casiano) and Vanessa Rizzo (John Hildenbrand), three grandsons, Nathan, and Christopher Rizzo and Preston Graser. He was predeceased by his son Nicholas. Andy is also survived by his parents Andrij and Ksenia (Szpak) Guzelak, two sisters, Maria (Clem) Chicarelli, Xenia (Patrick) Becher, three brothers, John (Jean), Joseph (Andrea) and Peter (Jennifer) Guzelak, several nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday February 11th at 10:00 AM in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Andy will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday Febraury 10th from 4-7 PM at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 W. Genesee Street.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Hospice of the Finger Lakes or the Ukrainian American Association Camp c/o Mary Cormier, 6060 Southbrook Drive, Ontario, NY 14519.


Following the graveside services, the family invites everyone back to the Ukrainian National Home, 1317 W. Fayette Street for a traditional Ukrainian Luncheon.
