Peter Joseph Doyle Jr died Dec 13, 2023. Peter was born 5/19/1928. He was predeceased by his parents, father Peter J. Doyle, Sr., mother Edith Mary (Wright) Doyle, Brother David, and cousin Carol Doyle Searle

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating Onondaga Valley Academy Peter worked for Breeze chevy before entering US Army. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War. He found time to take many pictures which he shared with the community in slide presentations, one of these is on Youtube. Upon discharge he went on the GI BILL to Northrop Aeronautical Institute where he was granted his A & P Airplane Mechanic license. He worked for Mohawk Airlines for several years before becoming an independent mechanic. He kept many a flier in the air in safe airplanes thru his mechanical skills and expertise. Aviation was his passion as well as his livelihood. He loved the history of early aviation WW1 aircraft his speciality, amassing volumes of documentation as well as original pictures. He was called upon to proof read many books on the subject. Locally he was a member of the Airplane Historical Society of CNY Based in Camillus, serving as President. He was involved in documenting the history of the first Syracuse airport which was in Amboy. Collecting numerous pictures and first person accounts from the people who worked at Amboy Airport. He shared his knowledge and collections with the community by way of lectures and slide presentations. His collection is currently housed at the Town of Camillus Historical Society. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church as well as a member of The Valley Mens Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 10:30 am in the St. Michael & St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4782 W. Seneca Turnmpike, Syracuse, NY, 13215. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt, NY.
