Irene Shevchuk October10, 2023 Irene Shevchuk passed away peacefully at her home in Camillus, NY on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. She was well loved by everyone. Irene was the mother of five children. Despite her large family, she always made time for everyone. She and her husband, Michal, were known for hosting many big family celebrations full of food, drink, dancing and singing. She always gave the best of herself. She was an active volunteer in the St. John the Baptist Mothers' Club, the Ukrainian American Youth Association and Oselia CYM Cholodnyj Yar. In addition, Irene gave her time and support to a great number of Ukrainian Immigrant families settling and building new lives in the Syracuse area. Irene was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Michal. She is survived by four daughters, Odarka Pandelly, Natalie (Andy) Adamczuk, Agneta (Christopher) Farnett and Patricia (Alex) Magyar; one son, Michael (Shael) Shevchuk; ten grandchildren, Kasha, Tanya (Patrick), Peter (Jenn), Jessica (Eric), Justin, Alex, Marlena, Karina, Dante and Eden; six great grandchildren, Halyna, Dalilah, Mila, Easton, Christopher and Maeve; a niece, Agneta (Tom) Shortell; and a nephew Mark (Barb) Shevchuk. Calling hours will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 West Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204. The Panachyda Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 201 Tompkins St. Syracuse. Irene will be laid to rest in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank all of Irene's friends and caregivers for their love and support. Her lifelong friends, friends at Camillus Pointe, PACE CNY, Senior Home Care Solutions and ECHO Meals on Wheels West. Contributions may be made to the Golisano Childrens Hospital or to Oselia CYM Cholodnyj Yar as an expression of Irene's love and passion for all children.
