Paraska "Pauline" Diachenko Obituary

Paraska " Pauline" Diachenko, 99, of Warners, passed away Monday June 6th at University Hospital. Paraska was born August 23, 1922 in Wislok, Ukraine. In 1944 during World War II she was taken into a forced labor camp in Germany. After the war she emmigrated to England where she met her husband Nicholas. In 1958 together they made their way to the United States, settling in Syracuse, NY. Paraska retired from Marsellus Casket Company where for many years she worked as a seamtress. She was a communicant of St. Luke's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Warners. She was a member of the St. Olga's Sisterhood. She was dedicated to her parish with hard work and generous contribution, always there to help whenever she was needed. Although she was not blessed with children of her own, she was like a Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother to many.


She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas who died in 1984, 2-sisters, Maria & Olena, 5-brothers, Ivan, Michal, Fedor, Wasyl & Simon.


She is survived by her brother, Andrij Guzelak of Syracuse, 2-sisters, Justina Dorosh and Hanna Baran both of Ukraine, and several nieces, nephews both local and of Ukraine, Czech Republic, Australia and England.


Calling hours will be held on Wednesday June 8, 2022 from 4-6 pm at the St. Luke's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 3290 Warners Road, Warners, NY 13164, followed by the Panakhyda Services to be held at 6:00 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in the church. Paraska will be laid to rest in the St. Luke's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to St. Luke's Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
