Obituary of Nina Wozniak

Nina Wozniak February 1st, 2022 Nina Wozniak, 95, formerly of Camillus, passed away February 1st 2022 after a brief illness. She was passed away at her home on Onondaga Hill with her loving family around her in her final days. Nina was born in Kuban, then a part of eastern Ukraine, and spent several years in a labor camp in Germany where she met her husband Wasyl. In 1949, they left for America to start a new life, eventually settling down in Syracuse. Nina was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and belonged to the Syracuse Chapter of The Ukrainian Women's Association. She retired from General Electric in 1982 and devoted herself to gardening, cooking, baking and caring for her grandchildren. Everyone loved Baba, as she was called, and delighted in eating her sweets, especially her apple cake. She was a generous person who took care of her relatives here and back in Ukraine and will be missed by all who knew her. Nina was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Wasyl. She is survived by her daughters Hanya Wozniak Brayman Frenay (Donald Radke) and Irena Natalia Wozniak Miller; three grandchildren, William Brayman IV, Alexa Brayman Dickson (Paul), and James Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Job and Eloise Dickson. Calling hours will be held on Sunday February 6, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 W. Genesee St. The Panakhyda service will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday 11:00 am in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Nina will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Central NY or a charity of choice.
