Helen Mary Woyciesjes-Buonocore
December 30, 2021
Helen Mary Woyciesjes-Buonocore, 60, of East Syracuse, went to Heaven surrounded by her loving family on December 30, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a lifetime resident of East Syracuse. She retired from the Syracuse City School District in 2016 after a thirty-year career as a Science Teacher at Danforth Elementary and Middle Schools and Roberts K-8, where she shared her warmth, love of learning, and enthusiasm for the natural world with all of her beloved students over the years.
Helen was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church and an active member of the Apostleship of Prayer. She also enjoyed spending her free time making rosaries for the Marian Center in Syracuse. She was also a member of the Our Lady of Fatima and Holy Trinity Prayer Groups and enjoyed her pilgrimages to different religious shrines across the U.S. and Canada. Her most favorite times were those spent with all of her nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Abba, at the family camp in the Adirondacks. She truly loved her annual anniversary trip with her husband, Chris, to Niagara Falls. Helen was an avid gardener, loved auctions and antique sales, always looking for that special gift for her loved ones or a unique treasure for her collection. Her favorite collection, however, was artwork from all of her nephews and nieces. Nothing was more important to Helen than her family and her faith.
Helen is predeceased by her parents, Michael and Dorothy Woyciesjes.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years Christopher Buonocore, two stepsons Matthew (Alaina) and Jacob Buonocore; siblings Michaelyn (Charles) Featherly, Patricia (John) Harmon, Peter (Deborah) Woyciesjes, Theodora Salcedo, and Stephanie Woyciesjes; 10 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews.
