Michael Walter Maslak

Michael Walter Maslak, 86, formerly of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025 at Casey House Montgomery Hospice in Maryland while surrounded by family. After growing up working at Seneca Grill, his parents' bar and restaurant, Mike attended Paul Smith's college in Lake Placid to study restaurant and hospitality management. Mike began his career with Howard Johnson's before continuing his career with over 30 years of service at Carrier Corporation first as a welder, then as an electrician. He served in the U.S. Army. While living in Syracuse, Mike was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Mike moved to Riderwood Retirement Senior Living in Silver Spring Maryland in 2016, where he was an active member of the woodshop and beloved by staff and residents alike. Mike is predeceased by his wife of 45 years Stephanie (Guzylak) who died in 2014, his parents Michael and Anna Maslak, and sisters Patricia Kasarda, Rosemary Trytek and Mary Jane Maslak.

Mike is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Michael and Kari Maslak of Buffalo; his daughter, Tanya Marie Maslak of Columbus, OH; his sister Virginia Losey of North Syracuse; and three grandchildren, Simon Gregory, Kayla Marie, and Owen Michael.

Calling Hours will be held Monday, January 12, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 West Genesee St, Syracuse. A Panakhyda Service will be held at 6:30 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 10:00 am in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 207 Tompkins St, Syracuse, followed by Entombment next to his wife in the St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum in Dewitt, NY.
