Maria Batruch, passed away on April 4th in Fairfax, Virginia , surrounded by her family.

At an early age she helped support her family as a seamstress and an opera singer. In 1966 when a bachelor came to her village looking for a wife that would be willing to move to the United States, she took a chance in hopes of having a better life and to continue to support her family. She sent many care packages in hopes that her new found opportunity in America could lessen the burdens of life back home.
