Joseph Shoytush, 92, of Manlius NY, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018.
Joseph was born on December 28, 1925 in North Tonawanda, NY, to Joseph and Suzanna (Toth) Shoytush. He joined the Navy in 1944 during WWII and spent most of the war on the destroyer USS Cole as a signalman.
He married Dorothy Smith in 1950 and they moved around the country for his job in the aviation industry. He worked at Link in Binghamton, NY from 1965 until his retirement in 1989. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them. In their retirement Joseph and Dorothy spent much time vacationing and traveling with friends. Dorothy predeceased Joseph in 2008.
Joseph is survived by his children, Nedra (Peter) Griswold, Irma (Victor) Zalizniak, Sandra Shoytush (Robert Van Troost), Steven (Barbara) Shoytush, and Paul (Jennifer Swenson); his grandchildren, Russell (Gloria) Zalizniak, Jacqueline Zalizniak (Patrick Mullins), and Joseph Shoytush; great grandchildren, Elise & Erin Shoytush and Larissa & Aleksander Maxim Zalizniak; and his sister, Mary Charbonneau.
Calling hours will be at Macko Vassallo Funeral Home at 1609 W. Genesee St., Syracuse NY. on Friday December 7 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m..
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East St., Walton, NY.
