Irene Hrynyk Piczkur, 78, passed away on October 17, 2018 in her daughters home in Michigan. She was born in Kotuzo, Ukraine and emigrated to the United States with her family in 1949.
She was a graduate of Phoenix High School and SUNY Oswego. She was a first grade teacher at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic School and also worked as a teachers aide for the North Syracuse School District. She also worked for the Pass & Seymour Co. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, a member of the Ukrainian Women's Organization and the Ukrainian National Home. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Pawlo Piczkur who died in 2006, her parents Iwan & Maria Hrynyk and her brother Thomas Hrynyk.
SURVIVORS: 2-Sons; John(Karen) Piczkur of Greenville, SC; and Steven (Heidi) Piczkur of Syracuse; & Daughter Mary (Tim) Chimner of Alpena, MI
Her Grandchildren Zachary & Alexandra Piczkur and Reanna Chimner and nieces Nancy Milligan of CT and Stephanie Hrynyk of Syracuse.
SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM in the Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home, 1609 W. Genesee St. Mrs. Piczkur will be laid to rest in the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
